Regular Season Round 6: Pozuelo - Guadalajara 73-81

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Guadalajara (4-2) won against on the road second-best Pozuelo (5-3) 81-73 on Saturday. Guadalajara forced 20 Pozuelo turnovers. Strangely Pozuelo outrebounded Guadalajara 51-24 including a 40-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Guillermo Gonzalez (188-98) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Victor Alonso (-1) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. Four Guadalajara players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Chema Gil (207-91) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Borja Lopez (187-93) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Pozuelo's coach Mariano Arasa rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Guadalajara moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Quintanar. Loser Pozuelo dropped to the third position with three games lost. Guadalajara will meet at home Tenerife Naut. (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Pozuelo will play against Estudiantes B (#16) in Madrid and hope to secure a win.
