Regular Season Round 6: Avenida - Zaragoza 69-59

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Avenida as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Avenida defeated 4th ranked Zaragoza in Salamanca 69-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zaragoza. British-American forward Katie Samuelson (190-97, college: UConn) scored 19 points to lead the charge for the winners and international Maria Cazorla (179-97, college: Oregon) chipped in 11 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Merritt Hempe (190-94, college: Georgia) with 14 points and 8 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Sierra Calhoun (183-96, college: Rutgers) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Avenida (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Valencia. Zaragoza at the other side keeps the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Girona. Zaragoza will play next round against Gernika trying to get back on the winning streak. Avenida will try to continue on its current victory against fourteenth ranked Ferrol on the road.
