Regular Season Round 6: Gran Canaria - Araski 74-58

There was a small surprise in Las Palmas where ninth ranked Gran Canaria (3-3) defeated 6th ranked Araski (3-3) 74-58 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Mali power forward Sika Kone (190-2) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. American swingman Maya Caldwell (180-98, college: Georgia, agency: Shark Sports Management) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Gran Canaria's coach Jose Ramos used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-96, college: Temple) who recorded 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Mozambican forward Tamara Seda (193-94, college: UTEP) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Gran Canaria moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Araski. Gran Canaria will meet higher ranked Girona (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Araski will play against Clarinos and hope to secure a win.
