Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Arxil (4-0) outplayed 6th ranked Rosalia (2-2) in Pontevedra 63-41 on Saturday. Arxil held Rosalia to an opponent 23.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Arxil forced 20 Rosalia turnovers and outrebounded them 52-21 including a 37-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Heather Forster (188-96, college: Albany) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and Guyanese Ruth Adams (-96) supported her with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Even 11 points and 5 rebounds by Angela Gonzalez (-99) did not help to save the game for Rosalia. Canadian forward Catherine Traer (185, college: Carleton) added 8 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Arxil have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A leader, which they share with Cordoba and Adareva. Loser Rosalia dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. Arxil will meet Cortegada (#5) in the next round. Rosalia will play against GDKO Bizkaia in Galdakao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
