Regular Season Round 3: PeU-Basket - Kipina 74-103

The game between closely ranked teams ended with PeU-Basket's (1-1) home loss to Kipina (3-0) in Pernio 74-103 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Kipina. PeU-Basket managed to win second period 20-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Kipina forced 20 PeU-Basket turnovers. Strangely PeU-Basket outrebounded Kipina 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Steve Jr Robinson (165-96, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who led the winners and scored 49 points (!!!), 6 assists and 4 steals. Forward Sami Mantymaa (193-88) accounted for 23 points and 8 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side. Forward Patrik Poutiainen (196-1) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and center Onni Makynen (198-4) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for PeU-Basket in the defeat. Four PeU-Basket players scored in double figures. Kipina will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. PeU-Basket will play against HyPo in Hyvinkaa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
