Regular Season Round 4: Iraklis - Olympiacos 90-96
Date: October 24, 2021
A1 top team - Olympiacos (4-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat thirteenth ranked Iraklis (0-3) in Thessaloniki 96-90. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Iraklis won fourth quarter 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olympiacos forced 19 Iraklis turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Iraklis was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by Cypriot-Bulgarian Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-95) who scored that evening 24 points and 5 rebounds and French center Moustapha Fall (216-92) supported him with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds by international Giannis Agravanis (196-98, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Iraklis. American point guard Toney Douglas (188-86, college: FSU) added 20 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olympiacos have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Iraklis at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Olympiacos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Iraklis will play on the road against Larissa BC (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
