Everything could happen in San Sebastian at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Granada and 7th ranked Acunsa GBC had identical 2-1 record. But Acunsa GBC was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Granada 76-50 on Sunday night. Granada dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Acunsa GBC's 16. Granada forced 19 Acunsa GBC turnovers. The winners were led by forward Jacobo Diaz (206-96, college: IUP) who scored that evening 13 points and 6 rebounds and American-Liberian guard Thomas Bropleh (196-91, college: Boise St., agency: Duran International) supported him with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Five Granada players scored in double figures. Even 10 points and 5 rebounds by guard Aitor Zubizarreta (190-95, college: Idaho Coll.) did not help to save the game for Acunsa GBC. Forward Ander Martinez (199-95) added 6 points for lost side. Acunsa GBC's coach Lorenzo Encinas gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Granada (3-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Acunsa GBC dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Granada will meet at home Huesca (#15) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Acunsa GBC will play against Coruna (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
