Regular Season Round 4: Peristeri - Panathinaikos 62-77

The most interesting game of round 4 was a home defeat of 8th ranked Peristeri (1-2) by seventh ranked Panathinaikos (2-1) who outscored them by 15 points 77-62. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Panathinaikos dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Peristeri's 26. They outrebounded Peristeri 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Georgios Papagiannis (220-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American guard Daryl Macon (190-95, college: Arkansas) who added 16 points during the contest. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international guard Dimitris Katsivelis (196-91) responded with 12 points and 5 assists and international Linos-Spyridon Chrysikopoulos (206-92) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place. Peristeri at the other side keeps the eighth position with two games lost. They share it with PAOK. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face league's second-placed Kolossos HH in Rodou in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Peristeri will play on the road against PAOK (#8) in Thessaloniki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
