Regular Season Round 4: Arka Gdynia - Bydgoszcz 89-70

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Gdynia. Third ranked Arka Gdynia faced one of their biggest challengers Bydgoszcz. Host Arka Gdynia (3-1) smashed guests from Bydgoszcz (2-2) 89-70. Arka Gdynia dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Bydgoszcz's 30. They outrebounded Bydgoszcz 38-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Arka Gdynia players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Bydgoszcz's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Morgan Bertsch (190-97, college: UC Davis, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Megan Gustafson (190-96, college: Iowa) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American center Jillian Alleyne (190-94, college: Oregon, agency: LBM Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and international Angelika Stankiewicz (170-95) added 16 points in the effort for Bydgoszcz. Four Bydgoszcz players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains third position with 3-1 record having just one point less than leader Lublin, which they share with Wroclaw. Bydgoszcz at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with Gorzow Wlkp. and Sosnowiec. Arka Gdynia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bydgoszcz will play at home against Polonia W-wa (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
