Regular Season Round 4: Aistes-LSMU - Tallina U. 74-75

There was a minor upset in Kaunas where 7th ranked Lithuanian Aistes-LSMU (1-3) was edged by tenth ranked Estonian Tallina U. (2-3) 75-74 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But Aistes-LSMU won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tallina U. made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Power forward Laina Mesila-Kaarmann (186-87) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Guard Merike Anderson (180-81) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Four Tallina U. players scored in double figures. Gintare Paulauskaite (185-95) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Deimante Zukaite (166-98) added 17 points and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Aistes-LSMU's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tallina U. moved-up to sixth place. Loser Aistes-LSMU dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Tallina U. will meet at home higher ranked BJBS R/J (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aistes-LSMU will have a break next round.
