Regular Season Round 4: Casablanca - Marratxi 53-51
Date: October 24, 2021
There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Marratxi (0-4) was edged by tenth ranked Casablanca (2-2) in Zaragoza 53-51 on Sunday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The winners were led by guard Ana Tainta (173-0, college: Portland St.) who scored that evening 15 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Raquel Terrer (170-0, college: NDSU) supported her with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Casablanca's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 8 points and 9 rebounds by Venezuelan power forward Aguehil Fajardo (183-99) did not help to save the game for Marratxi. Serbian point guard Mirjana Beronja (170-86) added 10 points and 4 assists for lost side. Casablanca moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Marratxi still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Distrito Olimpico. Casablanca will meet Almeda (#7) in the next round. Marratxi will play against Picken Claret (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
