Regular Season Round 5: Grindavik - Haukar 50-84

The game in Grindavik supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Haukar (3-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Grindavik (1-4). Haukar smashed Grindavik 84-50 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-50. Haukar dominated on the defensive end, holding Grindavik to just 6 points in second quarter. They held Grindavik to an opponent 23.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Haukar forced 21 Grindavik turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Grindavik's players. International forward Lovisa Henningsdottir (187-95, college: Marist) nailed 29 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and American point guard Haiden Palmer (174-91, college: Gonzaga, agency: Shark Sports Management) accounted for 6 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. American guard Robbi Ryan (170-97, college: Arizona St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Polish forward Edyta Falenczyk (180-93) added 15 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for Grindavik in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Haukar have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 3-1 record. Grindavik lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Breidablik. Haukar will meet at home higher ranked Valur (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Grindavik will play against Fjolnir in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
