Regular Season Round 7: Real Madrid - Gran Canaria 70-75

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Real Madrid (6-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Gran Canaria (5-2) 75-70. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Real Madrid. It was a great evening for French point guard Andrew Albicy (178-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points and 7 assists. Ukrainian center Artem Pustovyi (219-92, agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side naturalized Cape Verdean center Walter Tavares (220-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Alberto Abalde (202-95) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gran Canaria maintains third place with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Barca, which they share with Murcia. Real Madrid at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. Gran Canaria is looking forward to face Zaragoza (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Real Madrid will play against Baskonia (#8) in Vitoria and is hoping to win this game.
