Regular Season Round 5: Gorizont - Tsmoki-Minsk 60-42

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Tsmoki-Minsk (4-1) on the court of leader Gorizont on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Gorizont 60-42. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tsmoki-Minsk. The game was mostly controlled by Gorizont. Tsmoki-Minsk managed to win fourth quarter 12-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gorizont looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Tsmoki-Minsk's players. The former international center Anastasiya Veremeenko (195-87) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Brazilian forward Nany Carvalho (188-97, college: Kansas) chipped in 15 points. The former international guard Sviatlana Kudrashova (171-89) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and center Yana Makutsa (196-4) scored 4 points and 7 rebounds. Gorizont (6-0) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row. Tsmoki-Minsk at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Olimpia. Gorizont's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk BDU Tsmoki.
