Regular Season Round 4: Tindastoll - Grindavik 77-86

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Tindastoll (3-1) in Sauoarkrokur on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Grindavik (4-1) 86-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tindastoll. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-77. Grindavik outrebounded Tindastoll 46-24 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish forward Ivan Aurrecoechea (203-95, college: NM State) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. French-Israeli point guard Naor Sharon (193-95) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Five Grindavik players scored in double figures. American guard Javon Bess (198-96, college: St.Louis) replied with 30 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Sigtryggur Bjornsson (180-93, college: St.Mary's, agency: Duran International) added 9 points and 7 assists in the effort for Tindastoll. Grindavik have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Tindastoll at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Thor Thorl. Grindavik are looking forward to face Breidablik (#9) in Kopavogur in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tindastoll will play on the road against Njardvik (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
