Regular Season Round 8: Zadar - Alkar 92-90

Bottom-ranked Alkar (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 92-90 loss to fifth ranked Zadar (6-2) in Zadar on Friday evening. They shot 64.2 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Justin Carter (193-87, college: Creighton, agency: Alti Sport) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Martin Junakovic (188-94, agency: PEPI SPORT) who added 14 points and 6 assists during the contest. Naturalized Australian swingman Dominic Gilbert (201-96, college: UBC, agency: BIG) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Roko Gizdavcic (191-1) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Zadar and five Alkar players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Zadar have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Cibona. Loser Alkar still closes the standings with eight games lost. Zadar will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Alkar will play against Osijek (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
