Regular Season Round 7: Azulejos - Mataro UE 51-66

There was a minor upset in Zaragoza where 3rd placed Azulejos (3-2) was defeated by seventh ranked Mataro (3-2) 66-51 on Saturday. Mataro held Azulejos to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Azulejos 50-39 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for Jaume Sole (195-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Ignasi Arino (180-86) helped adding 13 points. At the losing side Carlos Blasco (192-95) responded with 19 points and Pablo Gracia (197-96) scored 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mataro. They moved-up to fifth place in Group C-3, which they share with Vic and Azulejos. Mataro will meet at home league's leader Barca 2 in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Azulejos will play against Vic (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
