Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Coruna and 9th ranked Acunsa GBC had identical 2-2 record. This time Coruna used a home court advantage and outleveled the opponent from San Sebastian 92-62 on Saturday night. Coruna outrebounded Acunsa GBC 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Ward (203-97, college: Michigan St.) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: MSU) chipped in 17 points. Four Coruna players scored in double figures. Swingman Mikel Motos (193-93, college: Juaristi ISB) produced 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Croatian power forward Mario Delas (207-90) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Coruna have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Melilla and Castello. Loser Acunsa GBC dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Coruna will meet Huesca (#17) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Acunsa GBC will play against Palma (#18) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Liga Endesa just one year after relegation.
