Regular Season Round 3: Giannena - Panathinaikos 82-87

There was no surprise when Giannena (0-3) was defeated at home by Panathinaikos (3-0) 87-82 on Sunday. Panathinaikos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Chastity Reed (185-89, college: UALR) who led her team to a victory scoring 27 points and 5 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Sequoia Holmes (183-86, college: UNLV) helped adding 11 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian forward Samantha Cooper (188-95, college: Fairfield) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and Christina Theodorou (182-97) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Panathinaikos will meet at home Esperides (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Giannena will play against PAOK in Thessaloniki and hopes to get finally their first victory.
