Regular Season Round 4: HyPo - PeU-Basket 83-68

Rather expected game in Hyvinkaa where 3rd ranked PeU-Basket (1-2) was defeated by top-ranked HyPo (4-0) 83-68 on Sunday. PeU-Basket was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 25-8 charge of HyPo, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to PeU-Basket's 22. HyPo forced 21 PeU-Basket turnovers and outrebounded them 45-34 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Chris Barton (189-96, college: Niagara) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Power forward Toni Honka (193-84) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Barton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Patrik Poutiainen (196-1) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Niko Huoponen (183-1) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. HyPo maintains first position in 1st Division with 4-0 record. Loser PeU-Basket dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. HyPo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. PeU-Basket will play against Westside ET (#7) and hope to win that game.
