Regular Season Round 7: Castello 2 - L'Alcora 99-103

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Castello 2 (1-4) was defeated at home by eighth ranked L'Alcora (1-1) 103-99 on Sunday. L'Alcora dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Castello 2's 38. It was a great evening for center Alfonso Ribera (202-1) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Santiago Vazquez (-3) helped adding 23 points and 12 rebounds. Four L'Alcora players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Unai Lacalle (198-91) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and forward Pablo Chaparra (194-94) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Castello 2's coach Manolo Hernando rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. L'Alcora left bottom position moving up to fifth place in Group E-A. Castello 2 lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Godella and Tabernes. L'Alcora will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Castello 2 will play against the league's second-placed Torrent (#2) and hope to win that game.
