There was a minor upset in Salo where one of their biggest challengers Vilpas (4-4) was defeated by ninth ranked KTP Basket (4-4) 86-81 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 23-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. KTP Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Richard Williams Jr (178-87, college: SDSU) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 assists. Forward Remu Raitanen (206-97, college: USF, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four KTP Basket players scored in double figures. American guard Brian Fobbs (196-98, college: Towson) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Bryan Griffin (203-98, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) added 22 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Vilpas' coach Sami Toiviainen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. KTP Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Vilpas. KTP Basket will meet at home Kobrat (#7) in the next round. Vilpas will play against Pyrinto in Tampere and hope to secure a win.
