Regular Season Round 6: Pozega - Banovici 101-53

Bottom-ranked Bosnian Banovici (0-6) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to third ranked Croatian Pozega (4-1) 101-53. The game without a history. Pozega led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Banovici's 28. They outrebounded Banovici 48-20 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Pozega players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Banovici's players. DR Congolese power forward La Mama Kapinga Maweja (194-97) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Bhrea Griffin (170-96, college: GSC) supported her with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Pozega players scored in double figures. Pozega's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points by center Ajla Ikanovic (192-99) did not help to save the game for Banovici. Point guard Zerina Kurtic (165-3) added 6 points and 6 assists. Pozega have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Celje. Banovici at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Pozega will again play against Banovici (#6) on the road in the next round. Banovici will have a break next round.
