The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Grindavik as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Grindavik defeated 9th ranked Breidablik at home 100-84. The game without a history. Grindavik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Spanish forward Ivan Aurrecoechea (203-95, college: NM State) stepped up and scored 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Kristofer Gylfason (192-97) chipped in 26 points and 8 rebounds. Grindavik's coach Daniel Gudmundsson used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slovenian forward Sinisa Bilic (202-89, agency: 011 Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Coastal) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Grindavik have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Breidablik lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with four games lost. They share the position with IR and Vestri. Breidablik will play next round against strong Thor Thorl trying to get back on the winning streak. Grindavik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
