Regular Season Round 8: La Antigua - Claret 85-62

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked La Antigua (7-1) outplayed bottom-ranked Claret (0-8) in Salamanca 85-62 on Saturday. La Antigua dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Claret's 34. They outrebounded Claret 40-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Nigerian-American guard Rob Ukawuba (191-94, college: NJIT) who scored that evening 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and center Cesar Yanez (205-94) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five La Antigua players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by forward Alex Young (202-97) did not help to save the game for Claret. Point guard Miguel Perez (182-1) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. La Antigua have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group A-B, which they share with Porrino and Obradoiro S. Newly promoted Claret still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with Oviedo 2. La Antigua will meet league's leader Agustinos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Claret will play against Oviedo 2 (#16) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
