Regular Season Round 8: Archena - Carolinas 83-88

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when one of their biggest challengers Archena (3-3) lost to fourth ranked Carolinas (3-2) in Murcia 83-88 on Saturday. Carolinas made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Nicolas Martinez (-1) who scored that evening 19 points and Nacho Gaya (185-90) supported him with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Carolinas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds by Arturo Fernandez (193-95) did not help to save the game for Archena. Forward David Garcia (200-99) added 26 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Carolinas moved-up to third place in Group E-C. Loser Archena dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Molina. Carolinas will meet UAF Lucentum (#7) in the next round. Archena's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Murcia to the arena Murcia 2.
