Regular Season Round 6: Livorno Pielle - Varese 83-44
Date: November 6, 2021
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Varese (2-4) was crushed on the road by tenth ranked Livorno Pielle (2-4) 83-44 on Saturday. Livorno Pielle shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Varese's players. The best player for the winners was power forward Giovanni Lenti (200-96, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Gabriele Fin (195-90, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Livorno Pielle players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Alessandro Spatti (203-95, agency: SLN) who recorded 10 points and 6 rebounds and the former international Andrea Pilotti (195-80) added 10 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Livorno Pielle moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with Monfalcone and Crema. Livorno Pielle will meet Cecina (#14) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Varese will play against Borgomanero and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
