Regular Season Round 8: Jaen - Novaschool 72-69

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Jaen (2-2) edged at home higher ranked Novaschool (4-2) 72-69 on Saturday. Jaen forced 19 Novaschool turnovers. The winners were led by forward Javier Santabarbara (197-95) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Bernardo Castillo (196-88) supported him with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Jaen players scored in double figures. Jaen's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 22 points and 7 rebounds by forward Pablo Villarejo (195-92) did not help to save the game for Novaschool. American Alex Jackson (200-84, college: UMSL) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Jaen have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B. Loser Novaschool dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Jaen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Novaschool will play against the league's leader Almeria (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
