Regular Season Round 8: Badalones - Mataro AE Parc 80-54

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Mataro Parc (2-4) was smashed on the road by eleventh ranked Badalones (2-4) 80-54 on Saturday. Badalones dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mataro Parc's 16. Badalones forced 24 Mataro Parc turnovers. The winners were led by center Pol Barbecho (203-2) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Aitor Perez (203-88) supported him with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by center Ferran Llorens (199-2) did not help to save the game for Mataro Parc. Gerard Comas (-1) added 7 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Badalones moved-up to seventh place in Group C-2, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Mataro Parc. Mataro Parc lost third consecutive game. Badalones will meet higher ranked Alfinden (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mataro Parc will play against Alpicat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
