Regular Season Round 7: Virtus BO - Pesaro 88-75

There was no surprise in Bologna where 15th ranked Pesaro (1-6) was defeated by third ranked Virtus BO (5-2) 88-75 on Saturday. Virtus BO dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Pesaro's 36. Virtus BO forced 19 Pesaro turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American Kevin Hervey (206-96, college: UT Arlington) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. French center Mouhammadou Jaiteh (211-94) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Virtus BO players scored in double figures. Virtus BO's coach Sergio Scariolo allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side naturalized Argentinian Carlos Delfino (198-82) responded with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American guard Vincent Sanford (193-90, college: Dayton, agency: Slash Sports) scored 13 points. Defending champion maintains third place with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Milano, which they share with Trieste. Pesaro lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Varese. Virtus BO will meet Brescia (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pesaro will play against Napoli (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
