Regular Season Round 5: Midtbyen - Ulriken 69-117

An interesting game for Ulriken (6-0) which played road game in Trondheim against 4th placed Midtbyen (3-2). Leader Ulriken had an easy win 117-69. Ulriken dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Midtbyen's 48 and made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Ulriken forced 31 Midtbyen turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The former international guard Stine Austgulen (180-94, college: Colorado St.) stepped up and scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and forward Sunniva Sorbye (176-3) chipped in 13 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Kari Kyrkjebo (188-1, college: UC Riverside) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Ingeborg Gundersen (180-0) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Five Ulriken and four Midtbyen players scored in double figures. Midtbyen's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Ulriken. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-0 record. Newly promoted Midtbyen keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Ulriken will play against bottom-ranked Hoybraten (#8) in Oslo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Midtbyen will play at home against Storm U. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
