The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Eanna as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Eanna edged one of their biggest challengers UCD Marian in Dublin 70-69. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Eanna outrebounded UCD Marian 44-24 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian forward Stefan Zecevic (196-93, college: Keiser) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). British point guard Rommon Nelson (183-93) contributed with 12 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Jonathan Jean (178-96, college: Lenoir-Rhyne) replied with 30 points and Hungarian-Serbian Srdjan Stojanovic (197-91) added 15 points in the effort for UCD Marian. UCD Marian's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they took over a top position. UCD Marian at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Belfast Star and Killorglin. UCD Marian will play next round against strong Killorglin trying to get back on the winning streak. Eanna will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Moycullen at Galway.
