The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Arxil as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Arxil defeated 8th ranked Barakaldo in Pontevedra 63-54. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Barakaldo. Arxil dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Barakaldo's 26. Arxil forced 21 Barakaldo turnovers. The best player for the winners was Serbian guard Dunja Buzadzin (176-94) who scored 20 points. American forward Heather Forster (188-96, college: Albany) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Alexus Johnson (188-94, college: Texas Southern) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds and Uruguayan point guard Florencia Niski (165-2) added 10 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Arxil (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Viladecans. Barakaldo at the other side keeps the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Barakaldo will play next round against Rosalia trying to get back on the winning streak. Arxil will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Leon on the road.
