Alkar's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after eight consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Osijek (3-5) 79-66 on Sunday. Alkar looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Center Hrvoje Vucic (210-91, college: Walsh) nailed 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and naturalized Australian swingman Dominic Gilbert (201-96, college: UBC, agency: BIG) accounted for 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Alkar players scored in double figures. Australian-South Sudanese guard Kuany Kuany (201-94, college: Chaminade) came up with 20 points and 9 rebounds and Bosnian center Djordje Topolovic (208-1) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Osijek in the defeat. Alkar maintains twelfth place with 1-8 record. It was Osijek's third loss in a row. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. Alkar will meet higher ranked Sibenik (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Osijek will play against Cibona where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
