No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Apollon P. (3-3) edged 12th ranked Iraklis (1-4) in Thessaloniki 82-81 on Sunday. Iraklis cut a 13-point halftime deficit to one at the end of the game. American forward DeJon Davis (203-98, college: CBU) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Orlando Coleman (196-92, college: Texas Southern) supported him with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Even 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists by American point guard Toney Douglas (188-86, college: FSU) did not help to save the game for Iraklis. International Ioannis Kouzeloglou (204-95) added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Iraklis' coach Stergios Koufos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Apollon P. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with AEK. Loser Iraklis dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. They share it with PAOK and Larissa BC. Apollon P. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Iraklis' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Thessaloniki to the arena Aris.
