Regular Season Round 8: Torta del Casar - Portuense 79-72

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Portuense (1-2) lost to seventh ranked Torta del Casar (3-3) in Caceres 72-79 on Sunday. Torta del Casar made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Portuense turnovers. Strangely Portuense outrebounded Torta del Casar 53-38 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by French Emmanuel Tchicaya (-4) who scored that evening 19 points and forward Juan Santos (196-2) supported him with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 24 points and 17 rebounds by Serbian Dejan Ilincic (211-99, college: Southeastern) did not help to save the game for Portuense. Forward Jonathan Enriquez (197-89) added 8 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Torta del Casar moved-up to fifth place in Group D-B, which they share with Badajoz and Corazon. Loser Portuense dropped to the tenth position with two games lost. Torta del Casar will meet league's second-placed Dos Hermanas on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Portuense will have a break next round.
