There was a minor upset when higher ranked Taranto (3-3) was outplayed on the road by tenth ranked Ruvo di Puglia (3-3) 85-54 on Sunday. Ruvo di Puglia dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Taranto's 34. They outrebounded Taranto 54-30 including a 40-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was naturalized Serbian Nikola Markovic (197-0) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Naturalized Dominican guard Shaquille Hidalgo (188-94) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Ruvo di Puglia's coach Francesco Ponticiello felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Riziero Ponziani (204-94) who recorded 12 points and point guard Manuel Diomede (189-90) added 11 points respectively.
