Regular Season Round 8: Olivar - Valls 62-65

There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Olivar (4-2) was edged by sixth ranked Valls (4-2) in Zaragoza 65-62 on Sunday. Valls forced 26 Olivar turnovers. The winners were led by naturalized Brazilian forward Marcus Vinicius (201-86) who scored that evening 16 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Emilio Martinez (182-98) supported him with 10 points and 6 assists. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds by Danish forward Gustav Knudsen (204-3) did not help to save the game for Olivar. Serbian forward Pavle Stosic (204-4) added 11 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Valls moved-up to third place in Group C-1, which they share with Olivar and Roser. Valls will meet at home Sant Cugat (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Olivar will play against Barbera (#11) in Barcelona and hope to secure a win.
