Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Girona (2-5) lost on the road to second ranked Granada (6-1) 83-72 on Tuesday. Granada made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Granada especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Pere Tomas (202-89) who led the winners and scored 16 points. Power forward Eduard Gatell (205-89) accounted for 15 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Latvian point guard Kaspars Vecvagars (190-93) came up with 17 points and forward Eric Vila (211-98, college: UTEP) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Girona in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Granada have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Estudiantes. Girona lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth place with five games lost. They share the position with Alicante and Prat. Granada will meet Oviedo (#5) on the road in the next round. Girona will play against Coruna (#3) and hope to secure a win.
