Regular Season Round 5: Neptunas - Siauliu Siauliai 95-92

Fifth-ranked Siauliu Siauliai (2-3) made lots of trouble for leader Neptunas (6-0) in Klaipeda. Neptunas managed to secure only three-point victory 95-92. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-18. But Siauliu Siauliai won second period 30-29. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Neptunas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Lithuanian Andra Gabalyte (179-80, college: Liberty) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Savannah Plentovich (172-98, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Donica Cosby (172-88, college: Okla City) answered with 31 points and 4 assists and Lithuanian forward Urte Bukauskaite (180-94) added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Siauliu Siauliai. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Siauliu Siauliai's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Neptunas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Siauliu Siauliai lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Daugavpils. Neptunas will play against Daugavpils Universitate (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Siauliu Siauliai will play against BJBS R/J in Riga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
