Regular Season Round 9: Chantada - Porrino 65-53

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Chantada (6-3) beat at home 3rd placed Porrino (7-2) 65-53 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was forward Cristian Iglesias (200-94) who scored 9 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Jorge Aller (195-97) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Javier Cardito (176-93) who recorded 17 points and point guard Lucas Vaquero (185-89) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Porrino's coach Jenaro Alonso rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Chantada. They maintain sixth place in Group A-B with 6-3 record. Porrino at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Leon. Chantada will meet higher ranked Leon (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Porrino will play against Oviedo 2 and hope to secure a win.
