The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Santurtzi as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A-A. Santurtzi defeated 9th ranked Valle de Egues at home 66-56. They outrebounded Valle de Egues 39-17 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Imanol Artinano (203-95, college: ABU) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side and naturalized Argentinian Juan Martin Orellano (199-89) accounted for 12 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Nicolas Uriz (184-96) came up with 13 points, 5 assists and 5 steals and power forward Javier Lacunza (203-94, college: FAU) added 13 points respectively for Valle de Egues in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santurtzi have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Valle de Egues lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Burgos Nissan and Solares. Valle de Egues will play next round against strong LBC Cocinas trying to get back on the winning streak. Santurtzi will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Mondragon on the road.
