There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Monopoli AN (2-5) beat on the road higher ranked Pozzuoli (4-3) 83-78 on Saturday. It was a great evening for center Jacopo Ragusa (203-0) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Nunzio Sabbatino (188-92) helped adding 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side naturalized Senegalese Sam Gaye Serigne (198-96, agency: Players Group) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Antonio Gallo (182-0, agency: Players Group) scored 14 points and 9 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Monopoli AN moved-up to twelfth place in B, which they share with Padova V. and Crema. Loser Pozzuoli dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Vicenza. Monopoli AN will meet at home higher ranked Torrenova (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pozzuoli will play against Taranto (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
