Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Guadalajara and 7th ranked Alcobendas had identical 4-4 record. This time Guadalajara used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Alcobendas 72-67 on Sunday night. They outrebounded Alcobendas 49-27 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Swedish guard John Thornblom (194-0) who scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. American-German guard Juwan Willis (188-97, college: Point Park) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Alberto de la Torre (201-94) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and center Francisco Javier Diaz (206-99) added 13 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guadalajara (5-4) moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Socuellamos and La Matanza. Alcobendas at the other side dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Quintanar and Zentro Basket 2. Guadalajara will meet Quintanar (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Alcobendas will play against Estudiantes B and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the LEB Silver just one year after relegation.
