Regular Season Round 9: Picken Claret - Calpe 113-74

Rather predictable result in Valencia where fourth ranked Picken Claret (5-2) smashed 6th ranked Calpe (1-6) 113-74 on Sunday. Picken Claret dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Calpe's 30. They outrebounded Calpe 47-20 including a 16-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Picken Claret looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Calpe's players. The best player for the winners was Francisco Climent (-2) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Joan Gomez (195-98) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Picken Claret players scored in double figures. Picken Claret's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian-Italian guard Juan Davini (185-98) who recorded 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Jaime Crespo (180-97) added 15 points respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for Picken Claret. They moved-up to second place in Group E-B, which they share with Gandia and Benidorm. Calpe lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Alginet B and Sueca. Picken Claret will meet Benidorm (#4) on the road in the next round. Calpe will play against the league's second-placed Gandia and hope to win that game.
