Regular Season Round 5: Tskhum-Abkhazeti - Dinamo 110-80

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Tskhum-Abkhazeti (#5) and Dinamo (#8). Tskhum-Abkhazeti (3-1) crushed visiting Dinamo (1-4) by 30 points 110-80. The game without a history. Tskhum-Abkhazeti led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Tskhum-Abkhazeti outrebounded Dinamo 41-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Guard Levan Maskhulia (201-96) stepped up and scored 23 points and 4 assists for the winners and point guard Luka Maziashvili (187-0, college: UMass Lowell) chipped in 23 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Maziashvili is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Dante Thompson (201-93, college: GBC) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Ben College (184-98, college: Whitworth) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Five Tskhum-Abkhazeti and four Dinamo players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tskhum-Abkhazeti moved-up to fourth place. Dinamo lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Cactus. Tskhum-Abkhazeti's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Vera.
