Regular Season Round 8: Fortitudo BO - Venezia 77-91
Date: November 14, 2021
Very predictable result when seventh ranked Venezia (4-4) won against 14th ranked Fortitudo BO (2-6) in Bologna 91-77 on Sunday. Venezia dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Fortitudo BO's 24 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American-Dominican center Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored that evening 21 points and 8 rebounds and American Austin Daye (209-88, college: Gonzaga, agency: Alti Sport) supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five Venezia players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by the former international Pietro Aradori (195-88) did not help to save the game for Fortitudo BO. American point guard Jabril Durham (185-94, college: Arkansas) added 11 points and 9 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Venezia maintains seventh position with 4-4 record, which they share with Tortona and Napoli. Loser Fortitudo BO keeps the fourteenth place with six games lost. They share the position with Varese. Venezia will meet at home higher ranked Trieste (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fortitudo BO will play against Trento (#6) and hope to secure a win.
