Regular Season Round 9: Agustinos - La Antigua 71-77

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Agustinos (8-4) in Leon on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by La Antigua (8-1) 77-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Agustinos. The best player for the winners was Cameroonian Nelson Yengue (195-92, college: Laurentian) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American guard Rob Ukawuba (191-94, college: NJIT) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Four La Antigua players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Jaime Llamas (197-99) who recorded 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Croatian forward Demian Balasko (197-97) added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. La Antigua have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of Group A-B leader, which they share with Obradoiro S. Newly promoted Agustinos dropped to the third place with four games lost. La Antigua will meet at home bottom-ranked Gijon Basket (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Agustinos will play against Tabernes (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
