Regular Season Round 11: Seagulls - Kobrat 67-79

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Seagulls (9-2) in Helsinki on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Kobrat (6-5) 79-67. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Seagulls. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-67. Kobrat looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American-DR Congolese guard Christian Lutete (196-96, college: UMass Lowell) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Stokley Chaffee (204-96, college: Tennessee St.) helped adding 16 points and 14 rebounds. Four Kobrat players scored in double figures. International Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and forward Timo Heinonen (198-81, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Seagulls' coach Jussi Laakso rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kobrat moved-up to fourth place, which they share with KTP Basket. Seagulls at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Kouvot. Kobrat will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Seagulls will play at home against the league's second-placed Kouvot and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
