Regular Season Round 7: Thor Thorl - Thor AK 110-81
Date: November 19, 2021
Very predictable result when first ranked Thor Thorl (6-1) rolled over bottom-ranked Thor AK (0-7) in Thorlakshofn 110-81 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 110-81. Thor Thorl outrebounded Thor AK 52-30 including a 21-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Thor AK's players. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Glynn Watson Jr (185-97, college: Nebraska) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. Lithuanian Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) accounted for 8 points and 21 rebounds for the winning side. Four Thor Thorl players scored in double figures. Norwegian guard Bouna Ndiaye (198-92, college: NW Nazarene) came up with 25 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Dui Jonsson (178-1) added 16 points and 7 assists respectively for Thor AK in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Thor Thorl have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-1 record, which they share with Keflavik. Loser Thor AK still closes the standings with seven games lost. Thor Thorl will meet Valur (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Thor AK will play against Breidablik (#11) in Kopavogur and hopes to get finally their first victory.
